Westbourne House

Westbourne House
Bayswater, London

One of the coolest interiors of any bar that I've been to in London. This is considerably a high-class bar and restaurant. The interior is chic, and quite "Casamilano" meets "Maxalto", with a bit of Victorian contemporary influence, smooth chocolate leather sofas, and plus black velvet table stools. I could do with an after-work drink here any day. The picture does not show this place off as well. It's actually quite dim in here, lit by candle light and warm fireplaces. This is an intimate bar and restaurant. Very posh. We came here for an after work drink as one of our colleagues would be leaving the next day.

Syrah, Grenache, 2006
Bad choice, this was flat, not full at all, and had a bit of spice in it, but sadly -- flat.

Shiraz, Benchmark, South African, 2006
Much better, this was a medium full wine with nice and smooth fruit flavors along with a tad of a merlot blend. This was a decent wine.

This bar has a lovely atmosphere. It's nice for a romantic date, a friendly meeting, relaxing evening, whatever.. I'm coming back, and it's right across the street from work!
