Cerisier Boulangerie
Setagaya-ku, near Midorigaoka Station

At Midorigaoka, I can confidently say that anyone who wakes at dawn in a stretch and smiles at those sly rays of sunlight streaming through the blinds will praise Cerisier; it is the only bakery that opens at 8:30 am, right across from the station. Small, but hey, it satisfied me with yummy and warm baked goods at the hour I needed it.
Teriyaki Chicken Bun
Glazed with Mayo
A savory-sweet treat in the morn. To be honest, the title says it all. The bun is like a moist pretzel. The teriyaki chicken is great. I think this is nice for a lunch snack. I wouldn't eat it, typically, but I found this a surprise to eat for breakfast because of of the sweet-savory dynamism. Interesting, though not my average choice.
Red Bean Bun
Full and fluffy of the red bean. Best. Served warm and fresh. Good size too! 200 yen.
Cranberry Wheat Bread
Ohh, sharp crust with soft center. The best is when these are warm. I actually heated mine up in the toaster oven for 20 seconds when I returned home. The cranberries added a nice balance to the wheat grain, giving it almost a raisin bread flavor. Cranberry is even more potent, however, so the bread has only a few strewn in it. Beautiful. I enjoyed this.
Brownie Pastry with Pecan
The pecan piece was merely adornment in the middle. There were a few walnuts. Essentially, it's a small light and airy brownie. Looks like a tart. 200 yen.
Tea Custard Bun
Looks like a red bean bun from the outside but the inside is a thick custard infused with black bean tea and a hint of vanilla. The custard is feels of too much lard for me. Pity. Though, the bun is redeemed while it's soft and fluffy with a light glaze. Remember indulge but am conscious of health. So when I say "light glaze" I mean light. Perfect portioned. Served warm. 167 yen.
Best neighborhood bakery in Setagaya, no matter how small. There's always something here to brighten your morning. Indulge and...
Cheers:
Friendly prices, even for non-Nippon-ise.
