The Galley Cafe

Breakfast with a dear friend today. 1pm, and no line! That's a first. I like the atmosphere and the light coming in two whole sides of the restaurant. There is this beautiful feeling of freedom and connection to the waterfront as the natural light comes in. The Galley always sets me off in a good spirit for the day. Service is friendly, prompt, and the booths are comfy too!
We sat in the middle booth today. There are only around 8-9 booths, but we came at a perfect time on a beautiful day and I was surprised to see there was no line outside. It's a Sunday, 1pm, and there were just enough people there to fill the booths! Incredible. I have fond memories here. I remember Myrtle very well. Here is her sign at the park, in memory of her. She used to bring my pancakes with syrup and butter and I used to melt at the scent of them. Myrtle was like a grandma to me when I visited. I will keep coming back, even if the prices are a little funny and sneakingly add up. When I bring my brother here to eat it's a $20 meal for him! I merely smile. That's just the way it is, and it's worth the good conversation and memories here.

with diced onions
I was disappointed at how small and flat this was. I should have just stuck with a plain omelet. The omelets are more crepe style and only a square of 5-6". Very flat. I had the omelet prepared dry, otherwise it comes dowsed in butter. They don't have herbs here, but they just put a few sprigs of parsley on top. Each addition to the omelet is $1.50, with a base egg price of $6.50, so these get pricey. Next time, I really could do without the onions. They were diced and raw, awkward.
Whole Wheat Toast
I don't know what kind of toast bread they buy, but I like this one. It's just a really nice wheat sandwich bread. It's probably not very healthy but it's good. I added Knott's Strawberry Jam to it and it tastes great. I like these lightly toasted and the waiters are glad to do this.
with choice of tea bags at the table
Very small pot. I'm always getting a refill but the tea is a must for me and it's under $2 for unlimited hot water.
Cheers:
Really, you can make this an affordable breakfast. Just be careful of all the add-ons. They all add-up. Oh, and they only take CASH! You'll leave with a smile though, trust me. I'm always satisfied and set with a good mood after.
